Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

We are a small business and this is a short policy, because we do not do very much with your information. You tell us about your pets so we can look after them, and that is almost the whole story.

Who we are

Happy at Home Pets is a live-in pet sitting service operating across London, run by Marcus Watts. If you have any question about this policy, or about information we hold on you, email contact@happyathomepets.co.uk and you will reach a person rather than a queue.

What we collect, and when

We only ever collect what a sit actually needs.

  • When you enquire: your name, email address, phone number and the address of the sit, along with your dates, how many pets you have and anything you choose to tell us in your own words.
  • When you fill in the pet details form: each pet's name, species, breed, age, routine, walk length, how long they can be left, any medication, health or mobility needs, and anything about their behaviour we should know.
  • When a booking goes ahead: the invoice, what was paid and when.
  • If you email us: whatever you write, in the ordinary way that email works.

Why we hold it

To answer your enquiry, work out a price, find a sitter who is genuinely free for your dates, brief that sitter properly, arrange a meet-and-greet, invoice you and keep a record of the booking. That is the whole of it. We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not use your information to advertise to you.

In data protection terms, we rely on performing our contract with you for the booking itself, and on our legitimate interest in running a small business for the enquiry that precedes it. Records tied to invoices are kept because we are required to keep them.

Who else sees it

A sitter being offered your sit is told what they need to look after your pets well: the area, the dates, your pets and their routine, and anything about medication, health or behaviour that matters. They are not given your full address, your phone number or your email until you have both agreed to go ahead.

  • Supabase, which hosts our database.
  • Vercel, which hosts this website.
  • Resend and Google, which carry our email.
  • OpenAI, where a message is drafted for Marcus to review. Nothing drafted this way reaches you without him reading it first.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that never become bookings are kept for two years, so that if you come back we already know your pets. Bookings and their invoices are kept for seven years, which is what UK tax rules require. You can ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep, and we will.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Email contact@happyathomepets.co.uk and we will answer within a month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
